Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):14-21 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0032-2
The aim of a paper is to show theoretical and experimental methods that are used in the process of evaluation of safe operation of sluice gates in water power plants. On several examples are represented various treatments that allow to provide identification of locations of possible failures on carrying elements of sluice gates.
CoDe-09 - a System for Environmental Assessment of Mechanical Engineering Products in their Conceptual Phase
Juraj Muránsky, Miroslav Badida
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):22-27 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0033-1
Design and development (D/D) procedures of mechanical engineering products (MEP-s) are explored as a holistic ones, and are modeling by means of the sets system. The individual sets represent technical, economical, environmental, aesthetic and market requirements. The specific eco-design philosophy is derived from the environmental aspects and requirements. The final result of this process are the environmentally compatible MEP-s. This philosophy is applied for the conceptual phase optimisation of MEP-s. The described procedure is applied as a fundamental core for the software product CoDe-09 and its structure. An application in the automotive industry...
Design of Simulation Model and Experimenting with Model in Order to Solve Logistics Issues in Healthcare Sector
Peter Bigoš, Daniela Onofrejová
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):28-39 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0034-0
Nowadays, by progressive development, logistics is oriented on customer market - service provision. Services area implies also healthcare provision. This environment expands dynamically, negotiate reforming; there's evidence of logistics approaches concerning material and information flow (pharmaceutics, consumer medical supplies, information systems, transport), less scientific studies focus on human material flow - patients' flow. Application of existing methods and system approach in services area is not conventional. Utilizing of simulation models, queuing theory knowledge, process models, dataflow diagrams of existing processes and statistical...

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):40-47 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0035-z
There are the key rules discussed of spongy titanium production process by Magnesium thermal reduction of Titanium tetrachloride. Thermodynamic analysis carried out of the possible effects of interaction of alloying elements (Molybdenum, Tungsten, Niobium, Tantalum, Zirconium), as well as interaction reactions of the main components (Iron, Chromium, Manganese, Nickel) with Titanium chlorides and with oxygen, as for Magnesium thermal method of Titanium obtaining.
2DOF Analog and Digital Controller Tunning for Integrating Plants with Time Delay
Miluše Vítečcková, Antonín Víteček
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):48-53 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0036-y
The article describes the tuning of 2DOF analog and digital PI and PID controllers for integrating plants with a time delay. Two methods are considered. The first is the multiple dominant pole method, which is an analytical method and the second is an experimental method. Both methods are very easy to use and they give a relatively good quality to control processes. The application is shown in the example.

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):54-59 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0037-x
The subject of the paper is methodology of aircraft hydraulic pump and helicopter gearbox testing by means of vibrodiagnostic tools. By vibrodiagnostics methods it is possible to detect mechanical changes occurring within aircraft hydraulic pumps and gearboxes, remove its causes and prevent large system failures and equipment malfunctions before they occur. Vibrodiagnostics as a part of routine aircraft preventive maintenance of power machines greatly reduces expenses of maintenance, increases safety and reliability of the system while at the same time extends system long-lived.
Uncertainties in Plant Optimum Definition
Milan Javůrek, Ivan Taufer
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):60-67 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0038-9
The article presents a method of simulated determination of the optimum regime in a reactor in which a competitive consecutive reaction A → B → C takes place. The algorithm of optimization method of Kiefer-Johnson is described (method with Fibonacci numbers using), and results of experimental determination of the optimum are given. Also described are the methods of determination of limit values of confidence intervals, and the confidence intervals - uncertainty of "measured" values are evaluated from experimental data. Good accordance between the experimental results and theoretical presumptions is stated.

Peter Demeč, Jozef Svetlík
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):68-73 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0039-8
Research, verification and implementation of various methods of rapid prototyping are getting more intensified in the recent time. One of possible rapid prototyping techniques is a virtual machining which allows testing the properties of designed machine tool using its mathematical model. This article presents the example of virtual machining on a virtual small centre lathe and experimental verification of obtained results.
Experimental Analysis of Complex Chaotic System by Hilbert-Huang Transform Usage
Josef Kokeš, Miroslav Kopecký
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2009, 13(4):74-79 | DOI: 10.2478/v10147-010-0040-2
The paper demonstrates one promising algorithm for adaptive prediction of trajectory transitions between local basins of attraction of deterministic chaotic systems using Hilbert-Huang Transform. The expected transitions of higher dimensional chaotic systems are predicted by low order intrinsic modal functions, obtained from state variables by HHT. The behavior of chaotic systems in the state-space is transformed to system behavior in an approximated parameter-space obtained by Huang algorithm. Also a brief comparison to adaptive method using quadratic neural unit (QNU) with forcing inputs, introduced by Bukovský [2], is shown.
