Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):6-11
Theory of mechanisms with variable structure in robotic applications of self-reconfigurable structures is one of directions of robot development. At our faculty is in development self-reconfigurable modular robotic system capable of rebuilding a structure according to requirements of the current task. We have designed an algorithm based on transformation matrixes (TM) , an accuracy and a functionality was verified in mathematical programs MathCad® and than in a first application created in Matlab®. Plotting the position of the local coordinate systems (LCS) in the area at the move of the one of the modules and comparing with the tracks from...

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):12-19
Proper selection and application of photoelastic coating to analysed surface of a structural element or its part is crucial when analysing principal strains or principal normal stresses by means of PhotoStress® method. For the purpose of this method, the selection of photoelastic coating is as crucial as the selection of a strain gauge and adhesive for tensometric analysis. This paper is hence aimed at this relatively important issue of stress analysis performed through PhotoStress® technique. In this paper, the selection and the application of photoelastic coating are being demonstrated on irregularly shaped surface of one pressure vessel.
Opportunities and Limitations of Gasification of Peat in Plasma Reactor
Kurilla Peter, Jasminská Natália, Horbaj Peter
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):20-25
This article analyzes the gasification process of peat mass for the large-scale devices and it discusses consequent utilization of the synthesis gas in terms of recovering energy of this gas in a cogeneration unit. The experiment was realized in 80 kVA plasma reactor with dependent plasma arc. The nitrogen was used as inert gas to a plasma arc created. The main aim of these experiments was the generation energy efficiently, reducing the time required to destroy molecules of the treated waste, the elimination of emissions and streamline of the degradation process Compared to the conventional methods of thermal processing.
Operational Vibration Analysis of Railway Transport Complex
František Trebuňa, František Šimčák, Róbert Huňady
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):26-33
Packages for transporting radioactive materials have to meet requirement of normal and accident transport conditions. On the basis of methodology of experimental verification packages for transport of radioactive materials elaborated by authors were realized extensive tests of containers. In the paper is described modal and vibration analysis of transport complex during its transportation.

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):34-43
Experimental methods of mechanics can be used for verification of lifespan of structures and for assessment their safe operation. For transport of radioactive materials is necessary to use packages that fulfill severe rules declared by laws and regulations. In the paper are given experimental procedures used for verification of safety of packages used for transport of spent nuclear fuel.

Water jet cutting technology (hydro-erosion) presents as unique, for future-oriented technology, with the high possibility of the introduction of automation for high-power cutting for actually all types of materials. The aim of the way was to find the definition of cutting parameters of water jet, which will guarantee technological and economical aspects. This process is associated with extensive utilisation of mathematical methods, using of computational procedures for specific tasks and at the utilisation of methodology of mathematics for methods of formulating solutions.
Results of Project Pedagogy at Environmental Engineerig Education of Óbuda University
Rita Bodáné Kendrovics
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):52-61
The objective of environmental engineering BSc education is to develop competences like complex system approach, problem recognition and resolution, lifelong learning and responsible attitude for the environment in addition to high level scientific knowledge. To achieve this goal, besides professional academic training, environment education needs to be implemented, where project pedagogy -as the strategy of environment pedagogy- can be efficiently applied. The study aims to prove the effectiveness of project education in terms of professional knowledge as well as in environmental attitudes by the results of project "Load of impurities in low water...
Numerical Modelling of the Forging Process of Bars with Circular Section from Scrapped Rails Heads
Janusz Tomczak, Zbigniew Pater
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):62-67
This paper presents the results of research works concerning processing of scrapped rails heads into bars with circular sections in the elongating forging processes. The formed semi-finished products will be used as billet in the cross-wedge rolling and skew rolling processes of balls applied in ball mills. Numerical analysis were made with the application of finite element method (FEM) in the conditions of three - dimensional state of strain, using the commercial software DEFORM 3D. The shape of rolled semi-finished products was analyzed in calculations, temperatures distributions and the process force parameters were determined. The possibility of...
Rapid Prototyping Techniques for Prototyping and Research of Polymer Gear Transmissions
Mariusz Sobolak, Patrycja Ewa Jagiełowicz
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):68-73
The article presents different fields of usage of Rapid Prototyping techniques in production and research of functional prototypes of polymer gears for electromechanical industry. Such Rapid Prototyping techniques as stereolithography and vacuum casting are used for preparing of functional prototypes of gears. The method of receiving of accurate gears made of differ plastics is shown. The gears are made by duplication of the stereolithographic model in the silicon matrices. The properties of stereolithographic resin are used in order to photo-elastic research - the determination of distribution of stresses in the gears of loaded transmission. The deformations...
The Analysis of Indoor Environment Parameters in Office Buildings
Stanisław Gil, Maciej Rozpondek, Tomasz Grychowski
Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2012, 16(3):74-81
The current tendencies concerning optimisation of maintenance parameters with regard to thermal comfort and indoor air quality in office and commercial buildings have been presented. The heating, ventilating and cooling systems for the indoor environment design have been characterized. Results of investigations regarding the indoor environment parameters for selected, representative buildings - a traditional, modernized building and an energy-efficient building - have been compared. In the energy-efficient building, a high diversity of indoor air quality (IAQ) has been demonstrated. Effective ways of indoor environment parameter optimisation in the...
