Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):20-25 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.036
The paper deals with the evaluation of quality of resistance spot welds. Hot-dip galvanized steel sheets of DX54D+Z quality were used for experiments. Electrochemical properties of used materials were observed. Carrying capacities of spot resistance welds were measured before as well as after exposure in corrosive environment. The tensile test was used for evaluation of carrying capacities. The quality of spot welds was evaluated on the base of microhardness measurements results realized on the scratch patterns too.

The automotive sector is facing advanced challenges arising from global changes in the technical, economic and social environment. Trend, referred to as the "agile manufacturing" represents the ability to survive and prosper in a competitive environment of continuous and unpredictable changes. It means to respond quickly and effectively to changing markets, produce goods and services according to customer needs via maintain the continuous product innovation, manageable number of product variants, fulfilling the unpredictable requirements of customers, shortening product life cycle and respond to significant fluctuations in sales. Submitted article...

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):36-42 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.038
The submission of an article deals with urban mass transportation logistics and its application in the city of Košice. Describes the present state of knotting traffic lines on the selected part of urban mass transportation network in the city of Košice and the way how it can be determined the shortest way by the Dijkstra's algorithm. Next there was selected suitable traffic node to transmission of passengers between the particular lines. In that node there was made a harmonization of traffic lines.

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):44-50 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.039
The PhotoStress® method allows the determination of strains and stresses in the loaded and photoelastically coated structural members. The quantitative values of differences of the principal strains (stresses) and their directions can be used to obtain the field of strain or stress components on the whole coated surface using further experimental data. In order to accelerate the process of measurement in the point, along the line or on the surface a new software application PhotoStress was designed and developed by the authors in collaboration with "Kybernetika, s.r.o." company that allows to determine directions and magnitudes of differences of...

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):52-57 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.040
Compressor stations and their pipe yards are technological complexes that are loaded by dynamic loading during their operation. The result of such loading can be fatigue failure of structural member or whole system with serious consequences. One possibility of decreasing disadvantageous dynamic loading and increasing of lifespan is using vibroinsulation elements. The lifespan of structure is intimately connected to critical locations as pipe joints realized by welds. Residual lifespan is expressed on the basis of data gained by experiments according to appropriate standards.

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):64-67 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.042
Modern engineering technology in the Centre of Excellence need the best support communication and computing infrastructure. It is not just about hardware devices but also software and training staff. The big advantage is maximum use of the so-called "open source" system, where operating costs are minimal and often have much more support than closed commercial systems.

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):68-73 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.043
Presented paper describes the application of Raman spectrometry in polymer processing technologies. Quick and reliable material identification is becoming and serrious issue in polymer processign technologies . Vibrational spectroscopy was long time used in polymer analysis. Preferred technique was the infrared spectroscopy (IR), but actual progress allows easy application of Raman spectroscopy and its main advantages. Raman spectroscopy detects vibrations that generate a change in the molecule's polarizability. The Raman effect arises when a photon is incident on a molecule and interacts with the electric dipole of the molecule. It is a form of electronic...

Acta Mechanica Slovaca 2011, 15(4):74-80 | DOI: 10.21496/ams.2011.044
During recent years, optical measuring technologies in sheet metal forming and tooling have been used more and more in the industry. Main applications are the digitizing of metal sheet parts and tools, forming analysis of metal sheets as well as the determination of material properties. Good interfaces to conventional CAD/CAM and numerical simulation systems made such optical measuring systems a part of complex process chains. These process chains mainly focus on optimizing the development of products and production processes and on improving the product quality. Using optical systems considerably decreases the development time for products and production...
