Phd Candidate, Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Roma Tre, Via Della Vasca Navelle, Rome, Italy

In this work combustion noise produced in diesel engines has been investigated. In order to reduce the exhaust emissions various injection parameters need to be studied and optimized. The combustion noise has been investigated by means on in cylinder pressure measurements using piezo electric transducers. The noise has been evaluated for a 440 cc diesel engine mounted on test rig. The engine was run under various operating conditions varying various injection parameters.
