The solution of the problem involves use of the experimental method. A numerical approach, based on the finite strip method is chosen as the verification step. In order to determine the critical force, specimens representing a cylindrical thin-walled shell are used. Subsequently, the results obtained by the finite strip method are checked by experimental measurements.
