So-called thermal-compressor, which consists of an absorber, generator and pump, replace the compressor of a vapour compression system. For heating process, instead electric energy, thermal energy in the form of saturated steam, hot water, natural gas or the waste heat sources are being used. In this article, on the example of single-effect absorption system using ammonia-water solution with ammonia as the refrigerant and water as the absorbent, research has been devoted to investigate theoretically the performance of two different operating modes of absorption refrigeration process with weak and strong ammonia-water solution in the generator.
